Big news is taking shape right here in Detroit Lakes: DL Makerspace is coming, and you’re invited to be part of it from the very start!
DL Makerspace is a nonprofit, community-powered workshop where local builders, makers, and creative folks can come together to work on projects, access tools, and share skills. If you’ve ever had a project in mind but no space, no tools, or no idea where to begin — that’s exactly what DL Makerspace is here to solve.
What is a Makerspace?
Think of DL Makerspace as a shared workshop:
🛠️ A place to build, fix, create, and learn
🪵 Outfitted with woodworking tools, lathes, sanders, saws, and hand tools
⚙️ Plans to add welding and metalworking equipment soon
🤝 A collaborative environment where you can meet others who love to make things
It’s not a store or a classroom, but a hands-on space where you can roll up your sleeves, get to work, and tap into the collective knowledge of other makers. Whether you’re an experienced woodworker or a hobbyist who likes to tinker, DL Makerspace is for you.
Why a Makerspace Matters
Many people in our community have amazing project ideas but lack the resources to bring them to life.
DL Makerspace is here to change that by giving you:

What’s Happening Right Now?
Construction is underway! Our physical space is being built as you read this.
We’re gathering tools — woodworking and metalworking equipment, clamps, finishing tools, and more.
Memberships, workshops, and certifications are in the planning stages.
We’re working with local organizations to make this a true community space.
Our target opening is 2026, and we’ll keep you posted as we get closer!
